One Room Challenge: Studio Dining Room Week 6 – Big Reveal!

Welcome to week 6 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda at Calling It Home Blog!

The big reveal is finally here and boy am I excited to show you the studio dining room!! You can go back and see the progress each week by clicking these links: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5                                                                                one room challenge

The past six weeks have flown by like the wind. It was a lot of hard work and a bit of cash :-) but it was well worth it!

Thanks to all who have followed the progress of this makeover. Thanks for all the encouragement and the great comments!

Ok, Shall we look back at where we started?

Here’s the BEFORE of the room……. and this was after getting rid of the horrible puke green walls….This picture was already an improvement.

Dining Room BEFORE

Now that you see where we started, are you ready for the finished room?

Before we get to the pictures I just had to mention that the final push to get this post done today was somewhat of a challenge. Of all days my camera was acting up and I had trouble sizing the pictures….They are a bit smaller than I would normally post.

Then my son had an allergic reaction to playing with a cat and I almost had to rush him to the emergency room. He is fine now, thank God.

Despite all the challenges, I was so happy and excited to get this post out and to share my finished dining room with you.

You can see that Waddles the pig made it into the finished room. You may have seen the post a few days ago asking for opinions whether or not she should stay in the room. Click here to read it.

I had such an overwhelming response to that post, and most agreed that Waddles is a keeper.

I also have my daughter’s cow art in the room. I love this piece she did a few years ago and it had to be proudly displayed in the room. Of course my carousel horse is prominently displayed as part of the main vignette.

If you look closely you will see a few birds……that’s because I love birds! So I have a cow, a horse, a pig and a bunch of birds. Haha……it’s not a theme, I promise. But I believe in decorating with the things you love, and these little creatures put a smile on my face every time.

I think I accomplished my goal of the comfortable, homey feeling I was trying to capture. The custom pillows (some are from Ballard Designs) and throw does add that welcoming feeling.

I am also very pleased with the custom box pleat table skirt. I really have to thank my seamstress Mary for pulling off all these custom pieces in the midst of our busiest season. She made the table skirt, most of the pillows, all drapery panels, and the napkins. I don’t know how I would manage without her half the time :-)

And……I just had to share my most recent find from Ross. This ceramic garden stool that normally sells for at least $99, I got for just $29.99. I was pretty happy about that score!                                                                                                                              2014-05-07 20.35.46

Ok enough talking! Are you ready to see for yourself?  Let’s go! There are a lot of pictures so brace yourselves :-) one room challenge IMG_4928 IMG_4957 photo (79)  photo (82)                                                                                 IMG_4916 IMG_4919 IMG_4924 IMG_4929 IMG_4930 IMG_4935 IMG_4936 IMG_4937 IMG_4939 IMG_4943 IMG_4958 IMG_4963 IMG_4968 IMG_4980 photo (80) photo (83) photo (84) photo (86) photo (88) photo (89) photo (90) photo (93) photo (95) photo (71) photo (72)

There you have it…the finished dining room! It was definitely a lot of fun putting it together. Stay tuned for the Fall installment of the One Room Challenge coming up on October 2nd. I just might be crazy enough to join! :-)  Be sure to check out some of the other bloggers’ finished rooms at the linking party going on now.

  5. Oh you found the perfect place/setup for the horse. It looks great there. You did a fabulous job w/the whole thing, and hurrah for kid art too (we have one framed in our house as well). :)

  6. So amazing! I love the loveseat behind the table, been wanting one and the man doesn’t seem to understand how a loveseat and a dining table go together, lol! Great job!

  12. WOW!! what an amazing space!! Seriously swooning over all your white dinnerware and accessory pieces. Love the way the oversized pieces just “work” in the space…..and that bench, in LOVE!!! really great job.

    xoxo.

  13. Love, love, love this room! Kudos to you on a great design!! There is a console table on Joss and Main today under the header “White Balance”, it’s the Tatum Console Table). If the dimensions are correct, it would be fabulous in your room. The skirted option you chose is lovely, but this is really fab…

  14. Okay, I finally get to check out everyone’s spaces now that my room is finally done and up. :) Love this dining room! All the details are gorgeous, but I am smitten with that bench, your skirted console and those drapes. Well done!
