A good friend of mine whom I met here in blogland, first introduced me doTERRA Essential Oils several months ago. I had already been reading positive testimonials about other people’s experiences with doTERRA. I was looking for natural, more holistic alternatives to mainstream medicine to support my new lifestyle as an almost-raw vegan. I was very intrigued by all the wonderful benefits of using doTERRA that I was reading about, and so I decided to give them a try.
What is an Essential Oil?
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. Essential oils are non-water-based phytochemicals made up of volatile organic compounds. Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils. Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Our bodies utilize the properties of the oils to support our good health.
An example is seen if you squeezed the peel of a ripe orange, the fragrant residue is full of essential oils.
Essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Modern scientific study and trends towards more holistic approaches to wellness are driving a revival and new discovery of essential oil health applications.
doTERRA Essential Oils are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. They represent the safest, purest, and most beneficial essential oils available today.
You will immediately recognize dōTERRA’s superior quality standard for naturally safe, purely effective therapeutic-grade essential oils. They can be used for aromatic, topical and dietary purposes.
I was so impressed with how wonderfully the oils worked that I decided to join doTERRA as a Wellness Advocate. Now I have the wonderful opportunity to share my experience and offer these oils to everyone seeking to improve their health.
I have quite a few favorites, but I absolutely enjoy Lavender.
Lavender is great for treating skin irritations, insect bites, cuts, burns, anxiety, as a sleep aid, and for cooking.
Recently I had a rash-like skin irritation on my neck that itched quite a bit. I applied just one drop of lavender to the affected area and the itch immediately stopped. The rash itself is clearing up as well, as I apply one drop of lavender after each shower. It will be gone in no time at this rate. It is amazing how quickly it worked!
I have also been experimenting with different combinations of the oils to help my 12 year old son, Josh, who has ADHD tendencies. He has not been officially diagnosed, but his doctor suggested that could be the case, because of his lack of focus and attention in school. He immediately talked about prescribing medications to which I said NO. I respect any parent who choose this option for their child, but I decided that prescription medication was not right for my son.
I will be sharing more about how I have been using doTERRA Essential Oils to help Josh (Look for a doTERRA post each Wednesday). We have only started this week (2 days ago), so not much to report yet except that Joshua actually enjoys them and says they are calming. Now that is a good word! We have been using the Vetiver, Serenity and Lavender so far.

I have recently heard of this company too. Does it give you a list of what each oil is good for? I would not know one thing from another. Just curious.
There is a book called Modern Essentials available on Amazon that has this information Sue. If you go into. You can also get brief information about uses when you are in the shop section of my site http://www.mydoterra.com/veronicasolomon

I am a firm believer in Therapeutic grade Essential oils! They kept my daughter out of the ER multiple times when she fought Croup. They help my Son and nephew stay out of the ER with Asthma attacks, and they helped me when I had whooping cough and Adeno Virus. I use them for Migraines, sinus and breathing issues, colds, cleaning and tons of other ways. -Amber E.

These sound great! I’ve heard about essential oils but I wasn’t really clear on what they were/what they were used for. Thanks for the info!

Thank you Liz
I did not know too much about essential oils, the lavender sounds great!
It is great Tom. You can even use it for cooking. And I know you love your flavorful dishes
Please do not take this the wrong way but this is by far my favorite post. I love your decorating tips and you are great at it, but I have been searching for oils to use and being new was not sure what brand to trust. Your trusting this one says a lot and I will be checking them out. I definitely want the Lavender Oil. The little boy I run for his mom is big into oils and they work so well for him so I will share this with her as well.
Thanks Jennifer! I appreciate your comment so much, and of course I don’t take it the wrong way. The Lavender oil is great, and as I mentioned, one of my favorites. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help
Thaks for a great review! I don’t use essential oils myself, but I have heard, that the lavender one helps to fight migraine. Have to try it out.
Yes, I have heard that the Lavender oil is great for migraines. Peppermint, Deep Blue and Past Tense are also recommended, and they can be applied topically to your temple, forehead, behind the ears, or base of skull. I used to get migraines before I changed my diet about a year ago. I cut out all processed foods and sugars etc. So I have been migraine free for a while. Please let me know if you need any help and I will be happy to point you in the right direction
I have used oils, but never doTerra oils. I had no idea these essential oils were so powerful. My favor scent to burn is lavender. It is so calming!
It is great that you are familiar with oils. I encourage you to give doTERRA a try. Our oils are therapeutic grade, and are very powerful. They are not water based like some of the other oils available today. Let me know if you ever need help
Love the networking here! Oils are healing!
Thank you Yvonne
Sounds like a good plan, I wish you good luck
Thanks Dov
Hurrah for the good report on her daughter.
The essential oils sound great to me. I’d love to try the Peppermint.

I have a few friends who love using essential oils. Good luck on your new venture!
Thank you!
I’ve heard that lavender is wonderful and has a lot of healing properties. It’s great to learn so much.
My pleasure! And lavender is definitely a great oil with many uses
I have done oils but never Terra oils my favorite is Sandalwood
I don’t know much about oils, but I’ve heard of these… I really should look into them and relax!
I’ve never used this brand before but I do love oils. Lavender is also one of my favorite. It really does relax you and is great for a nightly massage.
Thanks for introducing me to this brand of essential oils. I love orange (or mandarin more specifically). So comforting.
I have used essential oils for ages, having started when I first moved to Europe where “alternatives” to traditional medicine were accepted long before here. I didn’t know this brand, but the packaging is beautiful and — from what you say — the quality is excellent. Looks like a good opportunity for you to diversify a little, Veronica!
