Most of my friends and colleagues know about my undying love affair with fabrics. I love fabrics because of how they change the look of a room and add softness, which every room needs.
I also have a love for Window treatments – drapery panels to be exact. My motto is “No Room Is Complete Without The Right Window Treatment” and these are words I live by. I truly believe that the right window treatment design, coupled with the right fabric choice, enhance the look and feel of a room like nothing else can.
With that said, I am also a big believer that custom drapery is way better than most store-bought curtains. Notice I call them curtains here?…..This is because they are usually too short for most standard windows, skimpy and inferior grade fabrics, and not lined very well. Plus they are usually not very unique.
The point here is not to bash store-bought curtains, but instead, help you see the difference and benefits of having drapery panels made specifically for your window, without spending much more. Having the ability to customize your window treatments to your specific needs I think is priceless. Imagine picking out your own fabric from hundreds of options, whether you want non-functional or functional, the type of lining (blackout, thermal, or just regular sateen), the option to add interlining for more fullness, picking your header style (pinch pleats, goblet pleats, grommets), and of course the exact finished length to complement the size of your window (no high-water panels here ).
Now imagine being able to do that on a reasonable budget!
And in case I haven’t gotten your attention yet – imagine that you could have a pair of custom drapery panels for as little as $269! There’s no reason why anyone should have naked windows, right?
I created No Naked Windows a few years ago as an online shopping resource for custom drapery panels for the budget conscious. Custom drapery orders is a big part of my business, and I see everyday how expensive they can get. My goal was to make custom drapery affordable for everyone, with quality hand-made construction and beautiful materials. You can get the look of high-end for a fraction of the cost!
Ordering your custom drapery panels is easy. Click to go to our online store and click the custom drapery panels tab. Drapery panels are available as one width, one and a half width or two widths, and are sold in pairs. Our panels are available in 100% dupioni silk, faux silk/polyester, 100% linen, cotton twill, cotton duck, and burlap. There are several patterns and color options for each group.
What’s great is that you can also choose the color block option (which is a big trend now) where you can use up to three different colors from the same group for each panel. All panels are lined in standard sateen or you can upgrade to blackout lining. We will be adding thermal lining soon for the energy saving benefits. There is also an option for adding interlining. You need to select the standard header that best matches your decor – pinch pleat, cartridge pleat, french pleat, goblet pleat or grommets.
Finished lengths are available in 84″, 96″, 108″ and 120″, however there is a special request text box where you can type your request for a finished length between 72″ and 120″ at no additional charge. You can indicate if you want them longer than 120″, but we would have to call to discuss additional costs. Finished draperies can be very heavy and will cost more for shipping and handling.
Once your payment is received and verified, your custom panels go into production and are delivered to you in 4-6 weeks ready to hang. We can even install for you at an additional charge, if you are located in the Houston area.

These are semi-sheer linen panels so they are not lined. Notice that the window is a bow window, which means that we had a custom rod made to match the curve of the wall of windows.
My apologies for the ladder in this picture. LOL. Taken with the iPhone on install day
Our online store has several other items available for the home, including drapery hardware

Love all these photos! I think drapery panels really do bring a room together. Without them the room feels so naked.
My curtains are all from Target and I don’t think I paid more than $20 a set. They work, though.
That’s great! As long as they work for you.
All of your interior decoration stuffs are awesome. I really really love it and would like to decorate my home using these.
I really like the long panels. They add a real flowing look to a room and can make a small window look huge. Thanks (Kim)
I do a lot of my own sewing and I must agree, custom made window treatments are far superior to store bought and offer many more options. In a pinch though, I will purchase store bought curtains and embellish them on my own to adjust their length and look. I like the new black out curtains but they are SUPER boring without some kind of additional crafting.
Drapery give the window and room a distinguished look in my opinion. I would put up some of the ones you have in the pictures.
We just bought new drapes for our living room and it took forever to find them. Every time we found ones we liked, the store was out of stock.
Drapery can make a room look WOW!! That is GREAT, or make it look wow, what happened here.
those are gorgeous drapes I really liked the three tone one that remind me of an american flag.
Thanks Becca, but the American Flag is certainly not the look we were going for. The American flag is deep blue, dark red and white. The draperies shown are light blue, ORANGE and off white. Glad you like them
You are absolutely right, finely made drapery is essential to making a room ‘stand out’. We are currently struggling to select the best fabric and color for the draperies we want in our new home. I’ll be sure to have my wife check out your information!
Thank you David. I am sure you will find what you’re looking for there
Goodness, I’m totally gonna check this out! I have two windows left that I could either do these long panels or cornices on, and I can’t decide! This should help me
Thank you!
This window covers look fantastic. Do you recommend any fabrics that can stand up to cats?
Thanks Tom. You want to stay away from delicate fabrics like silks,100% linens and any fabric with a loose threads and embroidery etc, where little claws can get between. I would stick with a good grade of cotton fabric
We’ve always been pretty fortunate and been able to find curtains that worked for us in stores like Target, Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory. Your looks are very pretty, lots of color!
Wow those are some gorgeous drapes I love how they can really make a difference to a window and change the feeling of a room
x
I love those drapes. It is always so hard for me to decide what I want or what looks good.
What a lovely room and windows.. very creative! would love to see more about your interior designs!!
Thank you. Just keep following my blog for more great stuff
I have not done store bought or custom, I usually make our drapes. I know they are not professional but it gives me something to do and I get to pick the fabric out. I would not mind having them made, maybe the next house. I know they look great as I have been in houses that have had them made.
I love some good custom made drapes…in fact, I’ll be ordering some soon. I’ll keep these in mind.
I had someone customize our curtains as well. It did not cost much more and they go great in my living room.
I love the pictures. The custom drapes really bring personality to the room!
Thanks for all your wonderful comments
Wow, you’ve thought of everything with those panels. Everything you showed is gorgeous too!
The bow window is gorgeous. You really do great work and have a wonderful eye.
You’ve always got the most gorgeous things here (on your blog). You’ve definitely found your niche!
Love all the photos and seeing all the creative drapery ideas! Drapes make a huge difference in any room.
We can’t hang drapes or curtains here in our apartment, but I always look forward to your home decor post. For inspiration when we become home owners.
If you plan on being in the same apartment for a while it may be worth doing them. Just plan to repair the holes later. It really isn’t hard to repair holes and touch up with paint.
These are all awesome drapes… I love the ones with the geometric patterns.
Thank you!
These are really beautiful. I have tended to move away from drapes over the years but I can see here how beautiful they can make a room. I am currently doing some remodeling and will have to give this some thought when I am ready for my window coverings.
That’s great Pam! You’ll be ahoy you did
Some of those are nice. We don’t have very big windows but I wants some drapes on a few of them. It would actaully brighten the place up
Love those long panels. My house is 100 years old and this is exactly what I have for the super long windows
Great designs! I am not a drapes person but these look great!
Thanks Dani! I’ll make a drapes person out of you!
What a great service you’re offering and amazing prices too!
Thank you Jim!
Panels that looks sleek and simple are my thing hehehe.
You would probably have a heart attack if you saw my house. My windows have no personality whatsoever. I need help.
You’re funny Lucero! Believe me, I’ve seen it all! Lol
hurray! One of my favorite blogs! this site always makes me happy. I love custom panels. I’ve been looking at fabric lately for our living room, as we just can’t seem to find any premade panels that are the perfect size for our windows.
Thanks Katie! Take a look at my store and you may find what you’re looking for….. Even some inspiration
I have two huge windows in my living room. When I asked for custom draperies I was quoted somewhere around $1,400 each window. There was no way I was spending that much on draperies. So I shopped everywhere like Target, Burlington Coat Factory, IKea and JCPenney and was able to furnish all the windows in the house for a fraction of that price.
How clever of you to offer that as an online service, Veronica! I love to sew, and have since I was little. I walked into a friend’s new place awhile back and said, “This place needs draperies.” And I soon found myself in the fabric store with her, picking out fabric. Two weeks later I walked in with rods, drill, ladder … and all her draperies. What a difference they made. And they went perfectly with her decor. My “housewarming gift” cost a fraction of what she might have paid otherwise …
That is wonderful Sharon! What a gift to a friend! I’m sure she loved them!
