I was recently reminded about the importance of friendship. Not that I had forgotten, but sometimes we get so busy with life that we lose sight of the blessing of friendships. Especially when our friends are far away.
As I read my friend Loretta Smith’s blog post about The Miracle of Friendship, where I first saw this beautiful quote, I began to realize how blessed I am to have wonderful friendships, old and new.
Many of my new friendships have been made right here in blog land. The amazing people that I have had the pleasure of meeting through technology have all enhanced my life.
Then there are former colleagues like my friend Aimee, who has become a great friend of mine. We laugh about the fact that a crazy, demanding, dead-end job brought us together, and yet we stayed friends.
And of course the very special ones that have been in my life forever!
Speaking of forever friends……….Meet my best friend Stacey
This girl has been my best friend since high school – a very very long time ago!
I stole this picture from her Facebook page, but I’m sure she won’t mind
We have seen each other through major life moments as well as the little things. She has had my back many times, and I hope I that I have been the same for her over the years. She is a wonderful person with a great heart, and I am so blessed to have her as a friend
We live in different states, and don’t talk as often as we should, but she will always be like a sister to me, and I love her to bits.
So, if you are like me, you have the sentimental moments where you count your many blessings…..especially the blessing of friendships.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
Reach out to your friends today, and make sure they know how much you love them and care
Be Inspired!
It’s important to always have that one (or few) friends that are always there no matter what. Unfortunately, I lost that person a couple years ago after realizing how toxic and fake she really was, but I have since found someone who I think is a real friend and I am blessed to have her and her family apart of our lives!
A few people that I have met through blogging, I consider to be my best friends. Just because I don’t know them in real life doesn’t mean we can’t be great friends.
I had a “best friend” for nearly 20 years; and then I realized what a manipulator she was. My relationship with her has caused me to be less trustworthy of new friends. It’s tough.
This is such a lovely blog post! Friends are important pieces to the puzzle called life. I used to think they were rare gems but since I began working in energy, I’ve learned they can be plentiful. I’m so grateful to you my friend! I had no idea I could feel the way I do for my on line friends, but now I know there’s a whole new world of dear friends out there! Thank you for this heartwarming post today! I hope you and Stacey can be reunited some day soon! Big hugs my friend!
You are so right. Nothing like a super group of friends to see you on good and bad times!
You are blessed indeed
Great friends truly are a blessing. I am so incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful people I have in my life. I don’t know where I would be without them. Great post!
Friends really are so important. I think I’m going to make a few phone calls today. Thanks for the inspiration!
OMG, I wouldn’t think of letting go of my friends!
Awwww – love this post. Love my true friends that even if we haven’t seen each other in years, when we do get together it’s like we’ve never been apart. Special. Thanks for the reminder!
One of the greatest things about social media is being able to keep up with friends you no longer live close to. Life changes so much and it’s so nice keeping the world a bit smaller that way.
My Mom is my best friend, I don’t know what I would do without her. I don’t really have any good friends just online friends and people I know but it must feel amazing to be able to connect and trust with someone who you aren’t related too. Maybe one day I’ll be able to find a great friendship.
There is something so powerful about having close friendships. Human beings need the interaction with other human beings. And a close friendship is the very best.
My friends have been a life line through trials and hardship. I wouldn’t’ be who I am today without the help and support of my closest friends. -Amber
Thank you for this really great reminder. I recently lost a good friend and the 31st of this month marks the 7th anniversary of the death of my best friend, soul sister and beautiful angel. How I miss her!
What a wonderful relationship you have with your mom.
True friendships can stand the test of time and distance. I have had a best friend since kindergarten. Shes currently in Boston and I in Orlando but we still make time to meetup once a year!
That is awesome that you have had a friend since high school. Most women (myself included) get so wrapped up in our families that friends get lost in time. I can not recall the last time I spoke to someone who was not my children, spouse or a clerk at a store.
I really like your tribute to your friend. I have appreciated my good friends, but the older I get, the more that I realize how special those relationships really are, and I’m grateful.
I’ve moved so many times that I haven’t been able to keep up with my friends everywhere. However, my best friends in the world are now blog friends and I’m always so excited to see them at events!
What a lovely post! It is hard keeping up with friends. There is this natural distancing oneself from friends made through work when you retire and I am experiencing that now. I need to make the effort to keep connected.
It can be hard to keep up with friends but it’s so important to your emotional health! I still have a few friends I went to high school with and I love catching up with them.
What a lovely posts, friendship is so important – I have to admit I sometimes drift on a memory of a childhood friend and wonder how they are doing now.
I have been lucky enough to find a number of people that I consider friends online. I am grateful for all of them and lucky to have them.
I totally agree with this.. Friendship is really i treasure for years, and i am so bless with my friends right now..
Such a nice thought, my best friend is my daughter I am blessed!
Aww that is so sweet – friendships are really a treasure.
Thank you all fot your great comments
I have a few “friends” but I don’t really have a “real” best friend. I did in school but that changed when we got married and had kids .. we grew apart.
Friends are the heart of your soul. Great post here.
This is a great post and great way to end the week.
Thanks Jeff
I am definitely inspired! This is a very beautiful post.
Love this post! My friends are my everything. They have really helped me through a lot and I have them.
You are not only a fabulous designer, but a fabulous writer as well. Great post…my friends are like my family. Couldn’t exist without them.
Thank you Stephanie!
I love that last sentiment. I have friends from high school and from my teaching days that I almost never get to see, but as soon as I do it’s like no time has passed at all!
Having good friends is so important! I feel so blessed to have my best friend in my life for over 16 years! We’ve done everything together from weddings to babies to health issues. It’s such a special thing having someone in your life to go through those moments with.
Love the poem at the top of the posts! I sure do love my friends too! I’m actually making a birthday cake for my best friend’s little girl tonight!
I love all these quotes and the poem. I don’t know what I’d do without my friends!
I don’t have a huge group of friends. However, I do count the ones I have as blessings, they are so special to me
It’s so important to have great friends who will always have your back in life.
I have some friends that I would not be able to survive without. They have pulled me through so much that I can’t imagine my life without them. I am happy you have that, too!!
Most of my friends, I have known since grade school. Its amazing how you can know someone for so long and either grow so close or get pushed away. I feel as blessed as you with my friends. They’re the best!
Thank you all for your great comments! For those of you who have lost long time friendships, I hope you haven’t lost faith in true friendships. And for those who have great friends – old and new, enjoy the blessing that is true friendship
