I got up today to a dreary, overcast Monday morning here in Houston. If I didn’t know better, I would have no idea that Spring has sprung.
Well that was until I drove up to my design studio…….
What awaited me was the most beautiful burst of Spring I have seen in a long time……..
My Azalea bushes! They blossomed so beautifully just over the weekend!
Oh how I marvel at God’s beautiful creation!
When I first signed the lease in October of last year to my 1905 Victorian, the landscaping looked like a waste land. One driveway later (which I hired out) and laying 2 pallets of sod (1000sf), and planting 15 azalea bushes and 8 knock-out rose bushes (all by myself), I am pretty proud of my landscape. One day I will share those before and during pictures with you (fire ants attack and all), but for now, I wanted to focus on my beautiful azaleas.
I couldn’t help myself but to pick a few buds and bring them inside…….
These little bud vases are actually salt and pepper shakers that I purchased at the Dollar Store for $1 each. I had planned to spray paint them white, but I actually really like the ribbed effect of the glass. So I’ll leave them as is
TIP: This is a great way to bring some Spring into your home for almost free! Look around your kitchen for small glasses that you no longer use and use them as bud vases for roses, hydrangeas, and of course azaleas.
I especially love white roses in small bud vases….even when they dry out, they are still beautiful and make a great dried arrangement.
Even my weekly planner looks attractive with this arrangement on my desk
And believe me, It is pretty scary when you open it
Look at how well the pink azaleas complement my business cards That totally was a happy accident!
Even my Ikea étagère looks great with a bud.
I will definitely be enjoying the views of my azalea buds all throughout the studio today. Makes for a happy work day! Don’t you think?
Wishing you all a BEAUTIFUL Monday!
Be Inspired!
Love the Azaleas! They are beautiful! What an inspiring bit of nature’s beauty to brighten up a Monday!!!
That’s right Loretta! I am singing as I work, in the best spirit today
It’s still winter here in Massachusetts, but the flowers should start popping up next month….hopefully!
Beautiful flowers and I love the salt and pepper shaker idea. You already have the best ideas and help make everything look fabulous!
I know what flower I’m gonna look for to decorate the house, the Azalea is in my favorite color! It really brightens up everything it’s next to.
Flowers sure make a home look so much better in my opinion. I try and get a few flowers and keep them on my dining room table. Usually just the cheap ones at Walmart but this year may think of planting some.
Azaleas are so pretty and these pinky-fushia colors are among my favorites. Thanks for reminding me how easy it is to jazz up a room with fresh flowers and an unusual glass from the cupboard!
What beautiful flowers. Everything seems so much better in the spring time doesn’t it?
I have always loved azaleas bushes, but never knew what they were called! They were always the first to bloom at our house in Kansas! -Amber
love the flowers, its still pretty cold here in toronto. hope the warm weather comes soon
So bright and colourful! We still have tonnes of snow here. I can not wait for flowers to bloom (Kim)
This post gives me HOPE! I live on Cape Cod and we are preparing for another freaking blizzard! I just want to cry.
Oh no! Just keep my post up on your desktop to remind you that spring is coming
They look so beautiful! I think I’ll print the pictures and hang them on my windows – don’t think we’re getting any flowers in NJ for a while.
Haha! Great idea!
Aw pretty pink flowers and wow they really brighten up a room.
Those flowers sure are pretty, and pink too – my favorite color! The weather here has actually been very nice, but that is suppose to change on Wednesday.
I love the color of Azaleas. They are such a happy flower.
Oh…I just love this post! So many great ideas and what a fabulous color!
I sure wish this plant bloomed longer. It’s very colorful, but doesn’t seem to last long.
I agree Jim. The blooms don’t last very long.
These are a great colorful low maintenance flower/plant that I encourage homeowner’s to plant when we redo their landscape around the pool
Oh what a great tip – ko- I do think that it can sometimes be the small things that work.
I love azaleas. They just scream “spring” to me!
It doesn’t feel like spring at all! Love this little reminder that the spring feeling is just around the corner. I love the salt and pepper shaker idea. So cute!
Fresh flowers always make me happy. Love that you put them all around your house!
Those flowers are beautiful! I cannot wait to start out in the garden.
Those are absolutely beautiful. So you not only decorate the inside but you landscape as well – why do you have to live so far away from me! I love the color and the sign that Spring is here.
That is certainly a beautiful burst of spring and it makes me hopeful that we have some warm weather in the horizon.
You hit the nail on the head
I love love Azaleas !!!!!!!
I love gardening. I haven’t done it in a few years. Nothing says spring like flowers!!
Omg the dollar store had these babies??? I want them!! I love those flowers they seem to just light up the room with their vibrant colors!
They sure do Marielle! It’s amazing what you can find at the dollar store.
Beautiful flowers! And I love the colors! And a great idea for using what’s in your kitchen as vases
I had no idea the name of these pretty flowers. I a city girl so if I had done all that work you did land scaping by yourself my plants would have all died flowers included. you did a great job.
They look so beautiful thank you for sharing.I can not wait to see more :-).
After i saw the flower in the vase.. I was like Woooow!! I love how it was bloomed..
Gorgeous color! I’d love to bring fresh flowers in more, they’re so pretty. First I’d need some and second I’d need a cat that didn’t think it was ok to eat flowers.
I was thinking when I saw the first pictures that they’d be so pretty inside too. Then you showed some inside, and they’re just gorgeous.
These azaleas are beyond gorgeous. I can’t wait for mine to bloom, but we’ve got snow on the way today. Will spring ever get here?
Spring has definitely sprung. I love all the colors that are starting to pop up.
Oh yeah! I’ve been seeing some great colors this Spring. From Bright colors to pastels
I need me some fresh flowers for my home! Just haven’t found any yet that won’t kill me with allergies
I adore azaleas, too!!! We don’t have any right now, because we’re in the midst of re-landscaping, but we WILL have some by the time we’re done!
I’m so jealous of you and your flowers.. It snowed her today. I am so ready to see some pretty flowers outside!
Every time they bloom, I remember that I forgot to plant some AGAIN. I so want a bunch of those. My parents had a glorious garden full of them.
Beautiful. We don’t have “spring” season here, so we don’t get to see flowers bloom at the same time
These are very beautiful Veronica
it’s nice to see spring has sprung at your studio!
