Throw Back Thursday

Have you ever looked at an old photo of yourself and reflect back on where you were in your life at that time?

Does it ever inspire you to make a change to your life as it is now?

I was organizing photos into their proper folders on my laptop recently, and ended up just looking through a bunch of old photos of myself and the kids, reflecting on where we are now compared to where we were back then.

I could see a lot of growth in our life from a lot of these pictures. Some made me laugh a little, some made me proud, and some gave me some fresh new inspiration and a brand new outlook on our present and our future.

Throw back Thursday
This picture I think was taken back in 2008 in my driveway. I honestly cannot remember what I was so excited about. There is nothing really special about this picture, but  somehow looking at it, inspired me to be that happy-go-lucky girl again.

It’s not that I am not happy now, but I do remember that back then, my schedule involved a lot less work and a lot more time with the kids. I think that was the biggest thing that hit me after looking at it.

I recall that we had a regular weekend ritual of a movie on a Saturday night, church and brunch on Sunday and activities during the week. We still do our Sunday ritual, but we have gotten away from our movie night. My daughter is now 17 and is at the age where she would rather hang out with her friends - and my son ( now 12)……well he kinda still likes hanging out with me :-)

I am inspired to go back to the wonderful times spent with my kids. I am determined to clear my schedule a bit more and get more involved with their activities. After all, they will be gone off on their own sooner than later, and you just cannot get that time back.

The next time you go through your photo archives, see if you too will be inspired to make a change.

Have a happy Throw Back Thursday!

Be Inspired!

  1. I love that picture of you! I know you work really hard as a mompreneur to provide for your family. It is so important to come home from work having left work issues at work, but it takes real determination to do that when you work at home. Just the fact that your son still enjoys that time with you at 12 yrs old proves you are doing an amazing job! You are an amazing example to all the mompreneurs out there!

    • Thanks so much Loretta! It can be a challenge keeping all the balls in the air, but I am blessed to have wonderful kids and wonderful people in my life. Thanks for the encouragement.

  2. I hate when life pulls us away from the fun activities with our kids. We do family game night and time flies. My teenager will not be around forever so we really make sure to al be here for family game night now. Go and enjoy the time with your kids while you can! I love that photo of you, you look great and so happy.

  3. What a nice picture! Just by looking at it, it makes me smile too :) What you said is really true, kids grow up and they will eventually go on their own. Time is very important when it come to your family, I hope you can find more time for them like before :)

  4. Hi Veronica,
Very nice picture. :) Speaking of throw back… I remember looking at my daughter’s photographs one day. I had them all in my wallet since her birth. I placed them side by each and was inspired to write and record her a song. We remember in images, so they are very important. As you’ve said, you notice the changes over time.

    Kind Regards,
    Bill

  5. YES! Being a blogger can quickly take over your life!! You work your butt off to make some money up but once you do, you have to keep working harder to keep the moeny coming in. It never ends!
You look very happy in that picture! I hope you find that place again.

  6. You do look happy in that picture! I have pictures like that where I look so happy and carefree and thing, What was I doing to be so happy? lol

  7. I post a picture from high school today and I honestly feel like I just let myself go physically with my health isues I gained weight and all / I can think is how anorexic looking I lookd but then felt as fat as I am now. I finaly have a handle on life and I am in a giod spot but then my limited health forces me to not be active as I once was. pushing myself seems to make things worst. I feel I have finally started to pull my look together and wonder if I will ever be 135 again or will I be stuck at 160 land forever?

    • Amanda, I think you are doing great and you look wonderful. Looking back is not always a good thing, but it can be if we use anything negative as a spring board to a better future. best wishes to you

  8. You certainly did look very happy in that photo. I love family movie night and we use to have it every week. We should get back into it before our kiddos end up too old.

  9. Well you don’t look old enough to have a 17 and 12-yr. old. That’s a good thing. :) I love the outfit in the pic, those shoes are rocking awesome.

  10. I love looking at old pictures, not necessarily to make a change but to remember the really fun times we had and enjoy seeing where my daughters were then and how they have grown into remarkable young women. My girls like to sit down with me and hear the silly stories that go along with the pictures and ask questions about their childhood.

  11. I love it, Veronica. Our family is a photo bug family so there are pictures taken constantly throughout the lifetime. As such we have our whole life documented. lol…

I think going back to review them is perfectly fine and can conjur up an array of emotions. The one you chose to post here does remind me of happy times. No matter what that happiness was at that time, it’s a great picture to post a copy of it in your bathroom mirror so that it can bring a great start to your day and/or a reminder throughout the day — and remind yourself to always smile.

The smile and look looks great on you!

  12. I love how happy you look in the picture. I was recently going throught my pictures and I can’t believe how fast time is going, In just a few more months my son will be 1 year old. Where did time go?
