How about a fun and super easy craft idea for Valentine’s Day?
Pink Glitter Letters……
What a wonderful way to communicate your love (and other emotions) to your sweetie this Valentine’s Day!
Recently I came across this idea on Crazy Little Projects Blog and I just had to try it. These days it’s very difficult to find time to do any DIY or craft projects, but this one is very quick and easy. It literally took me 15 minutes
So with my son, Josh as my photographer, I decided to share with you my version of Valentine’s glitter letters
Here’s what you need for the project
- Wooden letters spelling out the word, name or initials you desire. I purchased these at Hobby Lobby for $1.29 each. I was in such a rush that I picked up the number 1 instead of the letter I. I didn’t even notice until Josh pointed it out. Haha! I told him it’s because your sweetie should be #1, so let’s pretend that I meant for that to happen
- Acrylic paint in your choice of color – I went with pink instead of red
- Glitter dust in your choice of color. It is best to keep the paint and glitter colors very similar
- A small soft brittle brush
- An old container for the paint
- Foil paper to lay out letters to dry
- Old newspaper or butcher paper to cover your work surface. Glitter will get everywhere if you’re not careful
My Process…..
- Lay each letter facing up on the foil paper
- Paint the letters one at a time. Do a really thick coat of paint because the wet paint will act as the glue for the glitter to adhere to. Be sure to cover all the edges with paint.
- While the paint is still wet, dust on a really thick layer of glitter. Be sure that all edges are covered.
- Leave the letters to dry before moving them
- When dry, clean up the edges and check that they are fully covered with glitter
- Voila! You are done
- There will be lots of excess glitter. Simply pour it back into the container
The Finished Product……
Here are the glitter letters in this cute little vignette.
Create a similar vignette on your nightstand and I bet that your sweetie will not miss this hint
You can spell out the word LOVE or XOXO, or your sweetie’s name or initials or whatever your little heart desires
Display on your mantel or in a bookshelf, or staple ribbons to the back and hang them on a wall.
Here it is using a picture editor app called InStatus
Have fun creating your version of Valentine’s Glitter Letters.
Would you try this Valentine’s Day craft idea?
Be Inspired!
Very creative and clever ideas!
Thanks David
Great Idea! I believe that making something, instead of just going out and buying it, means a lot more! Thanks for sharing!- edging for Robert of kungphoo
Love it! And I like it that you used pink!
That looks so easy. I’d love to do this as a craft project with my grandkids.
Lovely! That looks like a lot of fun. Will have to remember to show my daughter and we can do something together!
Those are too cute. I want to make some myself now. I just hate glitter so much LOL. It makes such a mess…..oy!
Haha! I kept the glitter pretty manageable, so it didn’t get everywhere
What a wonderful idea and they look great! Not sure if I will give it a go for Valentine’s however it works for any special event
You have a great photographer!
Your craft came out beautiful. I am attempting it with the kiddos

You have a very creative mind. The letters came out beautiful! This I must try.
When it comes to Valentine’s messages, these letters show that “bigger is better!” You are so creative. I always enjoy your posts. Day after day, how do you do it?
Thanks Barbara! How do I do it?…..a lot of staying up late for sure. Great comments like yours inspire and encourage me. Thanks so much
Well if you find our comments motivating, I’d better comment again! hahahaha
Those are so fun! I don’t have many pink things in my home, but this is a great idea for other times of year
Wow I love this and your choice of color =amazing! Btw where did you get those cute little birds? I can’t seem to find them around here (montreal).
I got these birds at Hobby Lobby a few months ago on clearance. They were brown and I spray painted them white. Like you, love owls I love birds of all kinds.
aah I’ve been looking for some! I don’t have a hobby lobby up here! hehehe me and my owl obsession!
Well, that is just too cute! I could see making one of these for my sweetie. I would use red though because that is his favorite color.
Now that is something I’ve gotta try. I want to do one with our family’s last name on it for a long time. I love the glitter idea.
That is so pretty – I think I would like to do something to keep up all year around – perhaps Love

That is so pretty I love it. An easy project but it looks amazing!
This is an adorable idea! I also love the contrast of the boldness of the word kiss with the softness of the shade of pink you used! And I got a laugh out of your 1 haha!
Very creative and it shows prime taste for the detail, making it surprisingly chic and economic!
Wow, simple and creative! I bet I could do something like this for my girls room. They’d love it
These are so pretty and easy to make. I would love to add this to my living room decor once we start that project.
That is such a great idea. I bought some wooden letters for my toddlers room and was planning originally to paint them over but decided to leave them the way they were. Might have to give this a try.
I love that, it is so easy and looks great. I will have to give it a try I see those letters all the time at the craft store and always try to think of things to do with them.
Now that is a project I could do. I love it! Love the word you picked out and the color. Fits perfect for the upcoming holiday.
Hey, that looks so easy, love it! I’ve done some things like wrap twine or ribbon around the hobby lobby letter. Don’t know why I never thought of paint.
Yeah, those came out perfect! I love the color, the size, and the font style too. I bought custom made wood letters for my SIL for Christmas and she loves them!
Wow! I love it!! You picked such a pretty color and glitter. I’d like to make these for my niece, with her name.
I think the letters turned out GREAT! And it was such an easy process!!

Those are sooo adorable! I love the idea of those sparkly letters..So pretty:) Tom and I are about to paint our home and I would love to have letters like those spelling Love on our wall:)
Oh I have to try that – I love em! I’ve recently decoupaged some letters as Christmas presents but had never thought of glitter. I feel the modge podge urge coming on!
Your bedroom hint made me giggle. Very pretty how the letters came out
Lol. thanks Annie
I would have never thought to do that! Those are SO CUTE!!!
This is so cute!! How original too!
Ohh, I love these! They’re super cute! I would put mod podge over the top after putting the glitter on – I hate glittery things where all the glitter comes off afterwards.
Yes that’s a great idea! The glitter does shed a little bit
I think these are a great idea for a party. How do you store them?
Great question Jim. I think I will store them the same way I do my Christmas ornaments……wrap them in tissue paper
When I had more spare time, I loved doing these type of projects especially with all the kiddos.
I love it and of course I’ll try it this week. How fun?! Pink and sparkly?! YES PLEASE!
Thank you all for your great comments. It was so much fun working on this Valentine’s craft project. I’m glad you all like it!
