What an honor it is to be nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award, a friendly designation by a fellow blogger!! Thank you Kristen of Kristenione for the nomination! I am very excited and humbled to be included in such a great circle of versatile bloggers.
The rules to receive the award are as follows:
- Thank the person who nominated you
- Provide a link to the person’s blog
- Nominate 15 bloggers of your own and tell them
- Write 7 facts about yourself
I am not sure I can think of 7 facts about myself off the top of my head, but I will give it a shot – so stay with me here
Here goes!
1) I grew up in Jamaica and moved to the U.S. 18 years ago. My Jamaican accent is pretty subtle now as I have been told, but it comes out every now and again. I don’t get to speak the Patois dialect very often living in Texas (except when I talk to my family) as there are not very many Jamaicans where I live.
2) I have 10 siblings…..yep! 10! 7 brothers and 3 sisters. I am 4th from the bottom. Growing up was pretty interesting. It was a lot of fun! But I did plan on having just one child. Lol
3) I was a Spelling Bee in primary school. That’s right! You may not be able to tell now, but I was, and represented my school at the national level. I was very good at it and I remember how much I loved it.
4) I once won an essay competition in high school (I think 8th or 9th grade) where the grand prize was an all expense paid trip to Nigeria, that was sponsored by the ruler of Nigeria. I never ended up going because my mother was very overprotective, and worried about my safety. The runner up ended up going in my place
5) I first knew I wanted to be an Interior Designer sitting in the waiting room at a funeral home in Florida about 10 years ago. Weird I know. I was attending to the details of my husband’s memorial service. Of course there was a lot going on in my head, but I do remember how beautifully the office was decorated – how soothing, calm and relaxing it was. Suddenly everything came together in my head. All the prior years of watching HGTV and checking out décor magazines suddenly made sense. Of course the rest is history
6) I have two children, Courtney 17 and Joshua 12. My daughter reminds me so much of myself and that is scary. Well not so much, I was a good kid, but it is great watching my kids grow up
7) I have a huge crush on Mark Wahlberg. Haha! I have never been celebrity crazed, but he is the one that I would love to meet…..possibly marry (well if he wasn’t already). My boyfriend already knows the score
Whewww! I came up with 7. I didn’t realize how hard it is to write facts about myself. Hope I didn’t bore you too much
Ok, according to the rules I need to nominate 15 bloggers, so the following is my official list of nominees:

How do you do that Lady Madonna, Miss single mom, hard working interior designer, blogging daily, searching and digging for new resources and new things to improve anything and everything around you and what you do.
There must be a museum somewhere that is looking for you to put in a glass box for everyone to see

Congratulations on your nomination! It is always so much fun learning more about our blogging buddies! I got a kick out of the funeral home inspiration. I guess it’s true. Inspiration really can strike anywhere!
You gotta get that accent back and start vlogging! We wouldn’t care what you were saying as long as you kept talking.
Ditto on the Mark Wahlberg thing, I don’t swing for the other team but if I did it be for Marky Mark.
How fun! Congratulations! And 10 siblings?! Wow!
Congrats on being nominated. I would have loved to have 10 siblings, our family was small and we are not close. Thank you for nominating me, I would love to have you join me for a run sometime! I completely understand how hard it is when it comes to writing about yourself, I have failed on many writing prompts because they try to get you to open up – I am really not good at talking about me!
Congrats on being nominated. Loved Jamaica. We went there for our honeymoon.
congrats to you! And yeah for the large family! I have 8 siblings, I’m the 9th child. It’s an adventure. Amber E.
Congrats and keep up the great work. You have a big family, love it!!
How fun!! I’m sure you made those bloggers days by passing the award on! It kind of reminds me of the pics on fb where you have to tag friends who you think are beautiful and pass it on… what a nice way to make someone’s day

I could never have said it better than Dov. Truly deserved. I’m sorry about the loss of your husband.
Very well deserved. In fact, I recently shared your blog with some people because of all the great information in it.
