Versatile Blogger Award

What an honor it is to be nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award, a friendly designation by a fellow blogger!! versatile blogger award Thank you Kristen of Kristenione for the nomination! I am very excited and humbled to be included in such a great circle of versatile bloggers.

The rules to receive the award are as follows:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Provide a link to the person’s blog
  3. Nominate 15 bloggers of your own and tell them
  4. Write 7 facts about yourself

I am not sure I can think of 7 facts about myself off the top of my head, but I will give it a shot – so stay with me here :-)

Here goes!

1) I grew up in Jamaica and moved to the U.S. 18 years ago. My Jamaican accent is pretty subtle now as I have been told, but it comes out every now and again. I don’t get to speak the Patois dialect very often living in Texas (except when I talk to my family) as there are not very many Jamaicans where I live.

2) I have 10 siblings…..yep! 10! 7 brothers and 3 sisters. I am 4th from the bottom. Growing up was pretty interesting. It was a lot of fun! But I did plan on having just one child. Lol

3) I was a Spelling Bee in primary school. That’s right! :-)  You may not be able to tell now, but I was, and represented my school at the national level. I was very good at it and I remember how much I loved it.

4) I once won an essay competition in high school (I think 8th or 9th grade) where the grand prize was an all expense paid trip to Nigeria, that was sponsored by the ruler of Nigeria. I never ended up going because my mother was very overprotective, and worried about my safety. The runner up ended up going in my place :-(

5) I first knew I wanted to be an Interior Designer sitting in the waiting room at a funeral home in Florida about 10 years ago. Weird I know. I was attending to the details of my husband’s memorial service. Of course there was a lot going on in my head, but I do remember how beautifully the office was decorated – how soothing, calm and relaxing it was. Suddenly everything came together in my head. All the prior years of watching HGTV and checking out décor magazines suddenly made sense. Of course the rest is history :-)

6) I have two children, Courtney 17 and Joshua 12. My daughter reminds me so much of myself and that is scary. Well not so much, I was a good kid, but  it is great watching my kids grow up

7)  I have a huge crush on Mark Wahlberg. Haha! I have never been celebrity crazed, but he is the one that I would love to meet…..possibly marry (well if he wasn’t already). My boyfriend already knows the score :-)

Whewww! I came up with 7. I didn’t realize how hard it is to write facts about myself. Hope I didn’t bore you too much :-)

Ok, according to the rules I need to nominate 15 bloggers, so the following is my official list of nominees:

  1. You will never stop to amaze me and surprise me….
How do you do that Lady Madonna, Miss single mom, hard working interior designer, blogging daily, searching and digging for new resources and new things to improve anything and everything around you and what you do.

There must be a museum somewhere that is looking for you to put in a glass box for everyone to see

    :)

    • I’m with Dov! You are truly amazing!!! I got busy and my blog has suffered, but you, no!!! You are truly and inspiration to me! Some of my closest friends I’ve met through blogging! I will get back on board! I’m deeply touched you included me here!!! Thank you for the honor Veronica!

  2. I would totally adopt you, but you are going to have to relocate to Boston ;) I could find LOTS of fun stuff for us to do! Oh, and 10 siblings?? I thought my husband, who is one of 7, was from a big family. Holidays must be really loud for you guys lol!

  3. What a fun list! 10 siblings…what an amazing experience. And I would never believe you had a 17 and 12 year old!

  4. Thanks so much Veronica for the acknowledgement and recognition! YOU are awesome!! When I want to refer someone who does social media well, I always send them to see what you do! :) Yes, you. Your posts are so well done, focusing on your readers and engagement… your photos are always so engaging. YOU rock! And? 10 sibblings here too… Tee-hee… X0X

  6. Hi Veronica,

You definitely have the gift of interior design! Always great to stop by and see what new things you have in store. :-)

  7. I totally have the same crush on Mark Wahlberg. I don’t know what it is. His bad boy style? His accent? He can be by Man Crush Monday any day!

  8. Congratulations on your nomination! It is always so much fun learning more about our blogging buddies! I got a kick out of the funeral home inspiration. I guess it’s true. Inspiration really can strike anywhere!

  9. Congrats on being nominated. I would have loved to have 10 siblings, our family was small and we are not close. Thank you for nominating me, I would love to have you join me for a run sometime! I completely understand how hard it is when it comes to writing about yourself, I have failed on many writing prompts because they try to get you to open up – I am really not good at talking about me!

  10. How fun!! I’m sure you made those bloggers days by passing the award on! It kind of reminds me of the pics on fb where you have to tag friends who you think are beautiful and pass it on… what a nice way to make someone’s day :)

  11. Wow! I like the fact that you’re a spelling bee! Congratulations for being nominated, Marielle and thank you for sharing your life with us. Just gave me more inspiration!

  12. What an awesome list of facts about yourself. It made me sad you did not get to go to Nigeria. You need to go someday. Very interesting list of items about you. Thank you so much for the nomination! :) You are awesome!! <3

  13. That’s neat to get to know you a little better. That’s fun too that you still get the accent every once in awhile: that’s one of my favorite accents to hear!

  14. Congrats on this award and thanks for the info to get to know you just a little bit better. I love large families. I have 5 siblings and we were considered a small family where I was born and raised.

  15. Ten siblings sounds like a lot of FUN! And yeah, I totally get the Mark Wahlberg crush – I mean, have you seen that man without a shirt?!

  16. You so deserve this nomination. This blog proves it. You shared about yourself and your nominees in such a way, it kept me reading and that is what blogging is all about.

  17. Congratulations on being nominated you truly deserve it! I’m so honored that you included me! You are one of my favorite bloggers and I’m so glad that we were able to connect so well. I grew up with 6 cousins and my sister so 8 of us! I can related a bit with the 10 siblings!

  18. What a beautiful blog! Congratulations on your nomination!! I know most of the bloggers you have chosen as your nominees and I believe you have a great list! Loved reading about you and your childhood, and yes, your amazing pictures and designs. You’re the best!
