You might want to make them unlined or with a light cotton sateen lining. There are end cap brackets you can use with a fixed wooden rod instead of the tension rod. That way even if the draperies are heavy they will be fine. Let me know if I can point you in the right direction with that

my first choice would be the third option, followed closely by the first option.
