Apple Holiday Commercial

Has anyone seen the Apple Holiday Commercial?

This one…….

Maybe I’m a big ball of mush, but this commercial brought out the waterworks in me. I mean I literally cried!

It’s not everyday that a one and a half minute long TV commercial tells such a great story of love for family and the precious moments that are truly what matters in life.

It was a blessing watching it, and although I know that Apple is ultimately trying to sell me something, it sure as heck didn’t feel like it.

I have learned a few valuable lessons here:

  • When you have a great product (or service), you don’t have to work hard to sell it
  • Figure out the desires and needs of your customers and make sure your product or service satisfies those needs
  • Show your potential customers the benefits of using your product or service
  • Make sure your prospects don’t feel like you’re always trying to sell them something
  • Don’t forget that behind every purchasing decision (especially a major purchase) is a person……with emotions. Connect with those emotions

……. and most importantly

  • Christmas is not just about the presents we give and get. That is a great part of how we celebrate, and who doesn’t love getting presents, but Christmas is more about home and family and love. The things that truly matter.

I hope you enjoyed this commercial as much as I did – it’s not very often I say that.

Take some time for family, friends and of course the joys of home this Christmas Season. There is no better bonding experience than picking out a tree and decorating it as a family

  1. I love that ad. its true what Seth Godin says (at least I think it’s him!) people buy based on how they feel, not on how they think. I’m a big believer in pouring yourself and your love and care into your services – that’s what sticks in people’s minds and makes you stand out.

  2. I did not see that ad yet until now… It shows what family is all about! It’s funny when our family gets together we put up pics of whatever is on our phone and just laugh for hours!

  3. This year I’m giving my grandkids more “presents” that involve time together. Last week I took them out for pizza and to pick out a book that each of them could take home and enjoy. This weekend we’re going bowling. I want them to remember the time I spend with them.

  4. Purchases and essentially all decisions are first made emotionally, then logically. I hadn’t seen this commercial before. Apple did their homework in making this very effective commercial. Bet it shows in their holiday revenue!!

  5. Veronica, every time this commercial comes on I stop I’m doing…watch it…and the waterworks begin! I find it moving and very touching. Usually when commercials come on the TV, I leave the room or turn down the volume; either way I don’t pay attention to them. I do like this one, however.

  6. Publix Supermarkets here in Florida make similar-type commercials where you’re not aware it’s even a commercial. They’re shorter, but they are documenting a family event or situation that touches our heart and at the end the Publix logo comes up over the last image … of the meal or something else that can be purchased at Publix. Emotionally, what you’re buying at Publix is the experience, not the food, etc. Very smart marketing. The Apple ad does the same, masterfully! And that’s what people should feel they’re buying from us …

  7. thanks for sharing v, i make a video every year, and it’s amazing how even the smallest moments seem wonderful when displayed in this way. another enjoyable read, as always! happy holidays!

  8. Hadn’t seen the commercial. Although I don’t celebrate Christmas, I do celebrate the holiday season, the spirit of the holiday and appreciate you sharing and pointing out the lessons. I’ve been making Thank You Posts on my FB page as my way of showing appreciation. No sale, or discount, etc- pure expression of appreciation. Great blog.
